We removed the blank panel and this is what we found. The door was made in 1856 for Lord Haywards Estate, Warninglid. Then in 1940 the blanking plate was added by the Estates builders Trollope & sons, for the bathroom.

We removed this blank to reveal the original 4 panel door with hand written notes penciled onto one of the panels. We added our own moniker to maintain the provenance.
